Rica Maestas

Rica Maestas (opens in a new tab) is an artist and writer from Albuquerque. With a focus on socially-engaged art, performance, and activism, Rica’s writing has been published in Southwest Contemporary, El Palacio magazine, Forging, Intervenxions, the Addison Museum of American Art, Practice Space’s Radical Hospitality Reader, and ArteFuse, among others. Maestas holds an MA in Public Humanities from Brown University, earned with support from the University of Southern California Renaissance Scholarship for interdisciplinary study.

To arrive at SITE SANTA FE’s 12th International: Once Within a Time installations at the Palace of the Governors, a visitor must first proceed through a series of doorways. Following an uncanny eyeline best suited for a dream sequence in a Hitchcock thriller, the eerie recursion within this ancient structure creates the sensation of re-entering the same room again and again.
