Albuquerque Little Theatre, Albuquerque, New Mexico, March 22, 2019. The Albuquerque Little Theatre was originally housed in the Kimo Theatre on Central Avenue, but moved to its current location on San Pasquale Avenue SW, built by the WPA in 1936. The Albuquerque Little Theatre is one of many WPA buildings designed by the noted architect John Gaw Meem, and was the first structure built in Albuquerque under the New Deal. Construction resources came from many places, including WPA and the National Youth Administration. Land and lumber came via credit from private companies, and other materials were paid for by the theatre. WPA administrator Harry Hopkins was the honored guest at the building dedication in 1936. The dedication was attended by such notables as Edward Everett Horton, ZaZu Pitts, Lon Chaney, and Leo G. Carroll.
